Tristan O’Meara
Origin: Australia
Material: Bloodwood Eucalyptus
Key / Toots: E / E, C
Warm. Fast. Barking & Howling.
Order Process:
Tristans Instruments you find at different merchants. I ordered an “O’Meara top player” directly at him. Tristan really consulted me regarding different aspects of the instrument. A longer process resulted, as he did not sell me an already produces instrument but he did two different instruments in the same key and let me decide which I like best. Meanwhile he sent pictures of the emerging sticks… Great experience. Tristan is a really personable guy, open for any question.
Sound & Playing:
The Didge is really easy and fun to play. Strong back pressure. The tight bore let it starts right away! It buzzes and barks and howles and does endlessly sounds decorating the crisp drone you produce. It is like it sings an own song with the breath you put in. The toots are comming rather easy.
You would definitely not receive something like this from a piece of plastic. It talks to you :).
Look & Finish:
Thin timber, especially at the bell. The coating looks fantastic. It is two layers of epoxy resin coating thats been hand cut back to 1000 grit, afterwards steel wool polish and finished with carnauba wax hand rag polish. If you see it, you want to touch… and it feels good!
The bell trim is solomon islands ebony and brass… looking great. Mouthpiece is made of three different timbers and just flatters my lips.
